We thought it would be good to have a list of resource links for astronomy-related interests and products. All listed companies are links to the websites.

As time goes on we will periodically add to the list, and perhaps tweak the format if needed. Some sites may overlap into other categories, but we tried to list under the main product for which the retailers / manufacturers are known. Hope you get some good use from it. If you have suggestions for websites, please don't hesitate to PM one of the moderators or admins. Thanks & Clear Skies!

I have added Atomic Platforms to the master list above. This appears to be a lower cost alternative to the other big EQ platform manufacturer, and only has a 4.25 inch vertical profile. According to the website each is custom made for your scopes specs with 13-ply Baltic Birch. Current price is $375 for the standard size, which accommodates up to a 15" Truss Dob. Other sizes are available but pricing was not listed for those.

There is a thread on CN about these as well here, for anyone wanting to check out comments there.

Hopefully these are good quality, affordable units, as the market could definitely use some healthy competition in this particular area. Don't get me wrong, the other manufacturer makes beautiful equipment, but our hobby could use a decent alternative. Unfortunately most others who have tried to make affordable EQ platforms have gone under within a year or two.

No problem. They are a first for me as well, but seemed worthy of consideration. Perhaps a future ATT article?

I'd love that!

In all seriousness, maybe a platform is what I need. I could probably do some real short astrophotography with a platform...

I bet you could too. A buddy of mine used to be so anal about aligning his platform that he would spend 15-30 minutes using the compass and "tweak" method until he could keep an object centered at 1000x for at least five minutes. If you could get it half that close you should be able to do some decent exposure times I would think.

Just added the link for Damian Peach's website under "Specialty Sites". It's got a big red NEW next to it. Probably the best lunar & planetary images I've ever seen, & he uses Pieces of Schmidt no less!

My suggestion is to initially visit the "Best Of" link. The very first image of Jupiter with Io & Ganymede is without doubt the single best image of Jupiter I've ever encountered. Most everything on the site is "clickable" so make sure you click on all the images to get the high-res versions and / or explanations.

Ah hell, here's the link to the image so you can get an idea. Jupiter Image Check out the surface detail on the moons as well.
