The new truss connections are rock solid! And actually quite a bit easier to install in the field . Very happy with the end result. On the second night of testing I was planning a long session, but was thwarted by dew. I don't get too many nights without a breeze, so it's typically a non-issue. However, there was super steady seeing in the sky that evening and I broke down the scope early, suffering great sadness.

Anyway, that leads me to the next fix...active dew prevention.

I seem to remember someone on CN talking about putting their mirror in the fridge prior to observing. Have you ever tried that? Just curious. Not sure a big mirror would FIT in the fridge.

Sounds logical, although I should have clarified. The primary was fine, and I do have a fan to keep things moving there, so no freezer needed. The problem was with the secondary and eyepiece. I think they need heat to combat the aggressive drop of the dew point.

Oh, I see. Makes sense. So primary goes in the fridge and secondary goes in the oven.
